Does anyone here have experience with the preschool at the YMCA? I am curious to know if any of the activities are faith based or if there is any prayer. We are looking into preschool at the Y in Cary. Thanks!
We belong to that Y and have checked into the preschool. I may differ from others on the forum but we were not impressed. Do some research online and there are a lot of less than stellar reviews. Not sure about the faith-based aspect. But it was just as important for us to find a caring, motivational, social environment we could trust.
We tried several we just were not happy with and ended up at Triangle Academy off of Kildare Farm. Extremely low turnover rate of teachers and the Directors have been there for years...Our daughter is 3 and loves it. We could not be happier.
Thanks for the info. I just looked into them and they seem great. I couldn't find any information on prices on their website, any info?
One of the reasons we were looking into the Y is that they also provide drop in daycare while you workout but, if they have terrible reviews, it may not be worth it.
My son went to preschool at the Cary Y and he loved it. It was a few years ago so perhaps things have changed but I had no issues with it.
Some of the activities were faith based and they did say grace before they would eat. It wasn't very religious based though in my opinion. So if you want a big emphasis on faith, it might not be a good fit for you.
Thanks for the reply, I'm actually looking for something that isn't faith based. I know some of the churches in the area offer secular preschool. I was hoping that the Y offered that as well.
Triangle Academy is not faith based. That was one of our criteria as well. If you want drop in childcare and a much nicer gym and facility I would check out Lifetime fitness. It is roughly the same per month as the Y but a much much nicer facility.
The Y is ok mainly because of the outdoor and indoor pool options and we do use the pool with the kids. But I have been a member at Golds, 2 Y's in town. I would say the Y's gym facilities and overall cleanliness are not great for the money...
If do do not want faith base I would look in to the chain child care centers Most keep far away from any type of faith teaching, That why parents that want faith based look in to church etc center .Read a lot of reviews and talk to lot parent before you enroll.
