You can always see a Rheumatologist. I liked Dr. Robert Keenan with Duke Rheumatology when I lived in Raleigh. He now sees patients at Duke's Clinic in Brier Creek.

Which kind of arthritis are we talking about? osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis or psoriatic arthritis or some other kind?

The type of specialist you need to see will depend on the diagnosis.

You could look into Advanced Pain Consultants they specialize in bursae/joint injections as a procedure to help and we have had some really great luck with the doctor there. We took my mother there when she began showing signs of arthritis and she loved it.
