The only good thing about getting your license in NC is that it is good for 8 years now and if any changes/new license is needed within that 8 years you can do everything on-line.

So once you get your plates and license you should be good to go for a long while. Other than that, you'll have to visit two different places to get your license and plate for the first time.

do all out of state newbies need to take a driving test to get nc license?

where do u get nc plates n tags if not same place for dr. license?

do you need appts to do both?

Not a driving test, but written, sign, and vision tests. The driving test is officially at the discrimination of the DMV examiner, but almost no one with an out-of-state license ever has to take it.

You go to a License and Tag Agency. These are offices run by private state contractors. You can locate them on the DMV website, though

License and tag agencies don't take appointments. Walk-in only.
