Ok I know each state is different and pre-school has different regs/ I love to know where to look up what public school go by here in NC .
I asked 3 teacher/ 2 principals all with different answers?
1- Can a teacher apply sun screen to a child.
2- It has the child name on it out of the child backpack?
3- Does or can the teacher have to have a written note form the parent?
4- Can a child take it out of his bag and apply it to themselfs??
I know what I think but would love to have a copy of the state regs, just FYI in the coming days of Hot sunny field trip/spot days?
I know some one here can help me .
Thanks

We have always been told wcpss policy is that they cannot apply sunscreen to your child. If you want them sunscreened, you have to put it on yourself in the morning.

They ARE allowed to put it on themselves.

Yes, but the real question is, are the pupils allowed to apply sunscreen to the teachers? That's what I (and the students) would like to know.

Our handbook says children need to have sunscreen applied prior to school arrival. I see no state law mentioned. You can look on the General Assembly website for any possible law on the matter. Your kids go to a Durham charter school don't they? So you might want to check your handbook for your policy.

LOL, because teachers have time to put sunscreen on 25 kids before going outside every day....

If your child has an extreme sensitivity, ask a doctor to write a note stating that the child needs to wear a hat when outside.

It is a state law. It has to do with dispensing otc meds at school, and sunscreen is now considered an otc med since it is FDA regulated.

That's what we've been told. I couldn't find any link to the law, but aside from that as librarysue said there is no way that a teacher can properly apply sunscreen to all their students. I can just imagine if they missed a spot and little Johnny got a dime-size sunburn.
