I get horrible service from TWC. My internet has been dropping out a lot, and I'm not in Durham. I thought it had something to do with a limit on bandwidth or something. I figured they were punishing us for using too much lol.

Holy Smokes! Is that what's been going on? I've driven myself crazy thinking it was my computer acting up. Cripes.

I should know to check here at City Data before driving myself batty.

Oh great, I just tried to use an open DNS and now I've screwed up my work computer and can't connect.

Here's an argument for not telecommuting

did it improve your internet experience? Did you try changing the DNS settings on your router itself?

Have to reset the modem and router a few times a day. Annoying!! Same deal for others apparently?

It did - I was having a conflict because my printer and work computer for some reason had the same IP address.

Anyway I used the OpenDNS servers and it's been much better. Not totally perfect though so I'm not sure why. Thanks so much for posting that!

try either the Google or Level3, it seems my browsing is faster with those...
Also, you can try changing the settings on your router instead, so that you don't have to update each device you have in your network

Update - didn't lose connection once today - so I agree with Darrix, bypassing TWC is the way to go. Sheesh TWC, get it together, we pay you enough.
