Noticed yesterday that cold water was leaking out of the bottom of the tank, where it meets the drip pan. Not sure if this will require a total replacement, but ready to roll on it if so because frankly I want instant-on hot water throughout the whole house versus waiting for it to heat up now (tank sits in the corner of one side of the house making it slow to get hot water on the other side).

Doing some research it seems Poole's is a pretty safe bet for combination of quality service and best prices. Anyone have any other recommendations? I do not want to waste time getting a bunch of folks out to compare quotes, nor do I want to go with a one-off handyman or one man show. Prefer a local company (IE no ARS) with an established presence to come out, give me the best price and solve the problem above.

Thanks!!

If you want to save money, just go to your local power company and tell them you want to replace your old gas hot water heater with a new electric one. The power company will give you one for free in most cases.

Think about that for a minute. The rest of the story

If you have gas service available... then gas will always the best choice for a heat source.

We used CK Plumbing and Backflow. Our water heater busted on a weekend and we didn't mess around with getting quotes so I can't tell you if they were the cheapest, but I can tell you that they're fast and they work weekends! They did a nice job for us.

We just went to Lowes and were told that the installation for a traditional 2-3 person water heater was $700 to $800. Is that true? The water heater was about $250.

We've used these folks to do our last hot water heater. They were excellent. They also did all the work for my previous employer. I recommend them:

Plumbing - Air Conditioning - Progressive Plumbing/Heating & Air - Raleigh - North Carolina

And check out their attached $200 off coupon for tankless.

Do yourself a huge favor by calling Xtreme plumbing. I highly doubt you'll find better service. You might find comparable service but these guys are definitely top notch.

I'm just wondering how long until some joker comes in here and says "why do you need to heat your hot water?!?!"
