We haven't settled on a house yet, but I am curious about how long it takes for utilities to be changed over /turned on once any required application and associated fees have been submitted in these areas. What should be expected as an average for utilities in those areas? (electric, gas, water/sewer) I know it will depend on different factors, but I'd just like to know an average range.
Time Warner? Once the order is put in for services, how far from that day do they usually schedule to get everything set up/turned on in your home? We've had them while in TX and NY where it would take them anywhere from a couple of days to a week to turn on the cable.
Apex can change you over with 24 hours and you can do it through their website without even calling them. As far as the average bill I have paid that's tough, since I only have paid one partial and one full bill so far. The full month bill was for $172, but that includes water, trash, electric, sewer, recycling, etc. It was also high due to all the watering I have had to do on the newly sodded lawn, so while the water fee might come down some, the electric will also go up some due to AC usage through the summer.
I will say that our new 3,100 sq. ft. house is much more energy efficient that our old 2,000 sq. ft. house that was built in 1995. I guarantee our electric portion of the bill will be lower than what we paid in our smaller house, even with there being 3 HVAC zones in the new place.

don't do TWC. They rob you at every chance and your bill is never the same. I had 3 months in a row where my bill was progressively higher and I didnt order any PPV or do anything different. I called and sat on hold for 3 hours and they offered to take the extra fees off my bill. I asked why they were there in the first place any they had no answer. I switched to Direct TV. Service is so much better and the bill is consistent.
In Apex I had utilities turned on the day I moved in. I gave them a few days notice, but I believe they only require 24 hours. My Apex town bill(everything but heat and hot water) has been ~90 every month, I am sure it will go up as I start to use the ac. My gas bill which is heat and hw was 70 in February, 52 in March, and 19 in April.
I have TWC and the bill has been consistent, so I cannot agree with the above poster. I wanted directv but the guy that showed up said the one tree would block the view. I think he was full of crap and didn't want to get on the roof because it was snowing. I called multiple times to get a second opinion but after a few days of not hearing back I figured the customer service was garbage and just went with TWC.
