Does anyone know anything about Westfall Village subdivision in Chapel Hill? Particularly about the associated schools? It looks like North Chatham Elementary. It only gets a 6 on Great Schools. Our current schools are rated 8-10 and I really want to be sure we are in good schools if we move but I'm not sure we can get the house we want in the Chapel Hill school district.

I hope you are aware that even with a Chapel HIll address, you can not be in the highly rated Chapel Hill/Carrboro school district. This is what has happened to the house you are looking at. Seems like maybe you are already aware of that. I don't know anything about Westfall but I do know some neighborhoods like Meadowmont can be split right down the middle with kids on one side of the street in the CHC district and on the other in Durham schools. Very confusing I know.

I've never heard of Westfall Village in Chapel Hill. Sounds like it's not actually in Chapel Hill, but is in Chatham Co — so that's probably why. There are some larger subdivisions in Chatham, like Briar Chapel, that have Chapel Hill postal address, but are not actually in Chapel Hill. Somebody on city-data explained it to me that they are served by the Chapel Hill mail carriers, but I don't know how that works. All I know is that addresses that are closer to Chapel Hill than Briar Chapel actually have a Pittsboro address. I know a lot of folks down that way.

There are some real estate websites where you can pick what schools you want. You can also go to Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools - Homepage and look at the district boundaries.

I know nothing about that school. Generally, schools in the Chapel Hill School District are more desireable than the ones in Chatham County. Also, you should know that you cannot compare Great School ratings across state lines as the scores are based on state testing, and Illinois state tests are different than NC tests. So a 9 in Illinois does not necessarily = a 9 in North Carolina.
