We are currently exploring preschools for our eldest and also wanted to consider church preschools in the area.

Knowing nothing about the churches in the area (we have only just moved here) I would appreciate some feedback/advice on what these preschools are like, i.e. more church focused, more curriculum focused, more play focused etc.

Currently our list of potential schools to look at are

Grace on Kildaire
Woodhaven on Kildaire
APPLE Seeds in Fuquay

Feel free to add any other schools you can recommend.

Thanks!

Kirk of Kildare comes highly recommended by a friend and neighbor. It was a bit too far for us though. We love Peace Presbyterian on Chatham/Cary Parkway. It is heavily play based with religious teachings incorporated into daily activities. They also focus on healthy snacks, very little sugar. Oh, and I also like that they have pets in most of the classrooms- a bunny, fish, other small furry and not so furry creatures. The kids love it, and have the opportunity to care for a favorite over a school break.

We spent 2 yrs at Calvary Baptist it at 10-10 and 401, so might not be in the area you are looking. Its been 2 yrs since we were there but we loved it back then. They use Abeka curriculum.

We've heard great things about St Francis UMC Preschool on Kildaire Farm Rd, near the Penny Road intersection. We'll be sending our son there soon.

I don't have experience there, but Trinity Preschool at Cary Alliance on 1010 would be in your target area and I know people who have been happy there.

We liked Pleasant Grove Baptist on Lake Wheeler and Hilltop Needmore in Fuquay. It might be further than you want. I'd say its mostly play based, with some academics and religious instruction thrown in, atleast when we were there. It was a loving, safe place for my kids to grow and develop.

Our son did two years at Resurrection Lutheran on Kildaire in Lochmere and we absolutely loved it. We are not members of that church and the kids do have chapel once a week but everything he learned at chapel was very general. He did a year of three day a week preschool and a year of transition and I felt they did a great job preparing him for kindergarten. I would highly recommend it and plan on sending my next one there when she is old enough.

White Plains United Methodist is another option.
