Specifically in the Triangle area. Otherwise, how hard is it in your area? Is it worth it to go dark, or stay legal?

Very hard as they get fined and not worth the $2 they make to pass you

DMV is headquartered in Raleigh so the inspectors are everywhere.

perhaps you should work on your tactics. I don't think anyone in their right mind would answer such a question on an open forum.

I can't answer your question, but as a person who also has dark window tint (20%), I have gotten pulled over 3 times in the last 3 months when a state trooper has nothing better to do. I have Kentucky plates, and they usually check my license and say "Since you have Kentucky registration, you don't have to follow our laws."

Nobody cares in Kentucky -it's getting annoying here. Wondering what to do once I change to NC plates.

I've had 15% for 8 months now, not one complaint/issue with the police.. Even had a cop talk to me at a gas station about my car and just small talk.. not a word about the window tint. I'm just curious when it comes time for inspection what kind of hassle I'll be running into.

While you may think it is a minor issue, an inspection station can still lose their license for
breaking the law and doing you such a "favor".

You've lived here for 3 months (presumably not just passing through) on out-of-state tags?
