Hi everyone,

When I was in Chapel Hill, my driving route up north was 85 to 95.
Now that I am in southern Wake, I was wondering if any of you have driven to the northeast taking 64 all the way to 95.

If anyone has made that trip, can you tell me if it's a good move...
What is traffic like on 64...
Since it's not an interstate, was curious.

Thanks.

We are in western Wake, not southern, and usually take 85. But if you are close to 64, the road is fine. There really isn't that much of a difference time-wise.

It's a good ride--It is usually wide open 70 mph to 95

I should have said southwest Wake, twingles.
Time wise, I was just looking to save the 50 minutes from here to 85.
Thanks for the feedback. Appreciate it!

If you're in SW Wake, my first response would be that getting to 540 (even using the toll), and then 50 North to Creedmoor, would be the fastest.

264/64 from 440 or 540 to 95 are almost always a perfectly pleasant ride without troublesome traffic

We do 64 to 95 all the time and it's a breeze.

We also do 64 to 95 whenever we are heading north.

I have taken both 64 and 85 to I95 when coming back here. Both are fine. My sister in law is in WF now and I take Capital Blvd all the way to 85 now. I know that won't work for you but 64 is a breeze and I have gone that route several times with no traffic. Just be aware that I95 from Richmond through to Spotslvania has been a mess lately with lane closures, construction and lots of traffic.

I live in Holly Springs and have done both ways 540 to 85 and 64 to 95 (and 85 to Route 1 down through Wake Forest/Capital Blvd to 440). My preference is 540 to 85 (and the reverse) but time wise it's about the same.

64 to 95 is an easy drive and 70mph most of the way it's once your on 95 where I think it gets crowded. I much prefer the drive through the trees on 85 since traffic always seems lighter.

Thank you Tomitillo. I think I will try 64 this time. Thanks for the heads up about 95. I actually did it last month and it wasn't too bad. I just got lucky. Most times during daylight and/or rush hours you can bank on 95 being 95! I drove the part of 95 that is the Cross Bronx Expwy for many years to work. Got two flat tires when I was pregnant on that road during bumper to bumper traffic...oh the stories. Yet sometimes I think the traffic around DC is just as bad, if not worse. Nice thing is when I do this trip, I am never in a rush. Makes the entire experience more tolerable in that mindset. Here to NYC area is just about my max if I am driving alone.

Thanks for the feedback y'all.
