We want to take my Mom out to dinner and she loves crabcakes and also fried seafood combinations. We've tried Mayflower and Fitzgerald's in the past and are looking for something different. My husband doesn't like seafood and I prefer grilled so it would be nice if the restaurant has options other than calabash seafood. Any suggestions for good crabcakes and decent portions?
Price range $20ish a meal.
Thank-you

Winson's Grille up in North Raleigh. The crabcake is appetizer or in a salad. The prime rib is also excellent (for your husband).

Not necessarily my favorite, but I think you should google 42nd Street Oyster Bar and look at their menu. And it's a Raleigh Tradition. Very good at what they do, just not my style. (Other than the 50-cent oysters from 5-7, THAT is my style!!!!)

Shuckers Oyster Bar and Grill in Wake Forest. Lots of non-seafood items, and wide range of preparation style for seafood dishes, including crabcakes.

Being from Maryland, I don't think there really is a place for good crab cakes here.

Another recommendation for Shuckers. It does fit all of your criteria. Food is decent, not overly priced, and there is a good variety without being overwhelming.

I like Bonefish crab cakes. I usually get the crab cakes off the appetizer menu with a salad

Gotta mention Squids in Chapel Hill if we're talking about seafood. Always
worth the drive.
