Cats are generally no match for rats. He needs a Jack Russel Terrier.

Cats are worthless.. my neighbor has two or more that roam the culdesac, and I still have mice (really small mice, not big rats) everywhere, including in my living room the other week.

if you have mice "everywhere, including my living room", you need to call an exterminator.

as to the OP, did the neighbor kill the rat? Did you see it? Do y'all know if it's a rat or a mouse, I can't imagine finding something several inches long + tail in a bathroom? are you looking for an exterminator to make sure it doesn't happen to you? trying to help neighbor catch THAT rat? Where do you live (city)?

Two got in when the dryer vent hose came loose from the wall vent. I used live traps, caught them and put them back outside. Haven't seen them since. No exterminator needed!

My neighbor's cats are still useless though. Just wish one wouldn't sleep on my front door mat, creating a bit of a problem when I'm taking my dogs out that way for a walk!

It's the neighbors house -Owner said a rat for sure (ugh) they caught the rat but want to make sure there aren't any extended family hanging around. I would guess an exterminator is the way to go. House is in the Cameron Village area.
