I'm looking for a good wine shop near Carrboro / Chapel Hill. I've heard there's a good one in Hillsborough, but don't have the name. Looking for something closer, but if I wind up driving a bit once in a while, that's fine also.
Looking for knowledgeable staff, tastings, relaxed environment. Any thoughts?
Stores I've been to but weren't what I was looking for:

Weaver Street Market

Try Chapel Hill Wine Company across from Orange Methodist Church on MLK or a Southern Season at University Mall. Todd Wielar who owns Chapel Hill Wine Co. also owns Hillsborough Wine Co. which I think is the store you are referring to.

I would second A southern season as well. They seem to have people who are very knowledgeable about wine.

Chapel Hill Wine Company, like Coltank said.
Also, if you're not opposed to a short drive, a new wine shop in Durham just opened. The Wine Authorities, on University. They have an eclectic, well-priced selection and two enomatics! (basically wine-sample vending machines) They offer lots of wine appreciation/education, tastings, etc. Please check them out if you find yourself in Durham, across from the Original Q Shack, down the street from Foster's Market/Guglhupf...
