In the next couple of months, I will be having professional photos taken of my family. Since I am not makeup-savvy, but want to look my best, does anyone have any recommendations for an affordable makeup artist for the photoshoot? I'm not looking to go to a makeup counter at a department store, since I've had bad experiences there, and am also not looking to spend "wedding" prices either. Thanks in advance!

If you have a regular hair stylist, you could ask them. I know people who have had their stylist also do their makeup, but they were skilled at it. Be careful that they don't get too heavy handed. I've seen some really dark, unnatural makeup in portraits. Don't be afraid to tell them you don't like it. Maybe do a practice run.

Honestly I usually have the guy that works the Smashbox section of Sephora do my makeup when I need to look better than my usual hot mess self. He always does a great job and I'll buy some nail polish or something so he gets his commission.
