A licence IS now needed for registering a car. That IS on the website. This didnt used to be true but now is. Says so right here: NCDOT: Titles Cut and pasted: If you are a new North Carolina resident moving from out-of-state, you must wait to register your vehicle until after you receive your official NC Driver License.

Why all the cars not in your name?? I know someone who had all his stuff in other peoples name...but he was in the Mafia!! lol Just kidding!!

[quote=Starglow;31039295<>Having said that, letting a car sit for long periods of time is not a good thing even if you start it once and a while. Seals will start drying out, the tires get flat spots, and other things stop working...basically the car will start deteriorating if not driven regularly.
If the car won't be driven for a few years, then it's best to just sell it and buy your son another car later when he and you are ready for him to have one of his own.<>[/quote]
+1 on all that. In addition, Wake County will want property tax on the vehicle. The worst deterioration would be on the interior as the ants, mice, snakes cycle ends up with a moldy, mildewed unusable car. Sell it and buy a CD.

Oops, thanks for setting me straight, everyone. Must have been confusing NC with CA again...

There is a very good reason but I'd rather not say what it is exactly. It's not because I'm in the Mafia though! Suffice it to say my personal circumstances warrant that I only own one car.

At any rate, NC DMV's website is pretty informative about stuff like this with the titling.
Twingles, It's not a classic car but it is a nice car. I guess the main reason I want to hang onto it is because it was my father's car. Silly sentimental reason I know. It would just be hard to sell it to someone else. I donated some of my father's furniture to the Salvation Army and I bawled my eyes out as the truck drove away with it.
