We are thinking about making a trip to Myrtle Beach, but would rather go when most of the kids are back in school. When do they go back to school in this area of the world?

Mine started last week for a charter school in Durham. Durham Public Schools on the traditional calendar start tomorrow.

Durham year round schools start a 3 week break in a few weeks, not sure of the actual date.

Chapel Hill schools start tomorrow (August 26). The Catholic schools in the area started last week.

Sounds like all the schools will be in session this week. Now, Labor Day weekend, I'd imagine the beaches will be packed one more time.

So after Labor Day, during the weekdays, we're relatively 'safe' from the kiddie crowd?

Yes After Labor Day is a very ideal time to go to Myrtle Beach with low amount of brats I mean kids.

If you dont have a place in mind I would wait til last minute for two reason.
September is peak hurricane season even though I think these cooler temps will prevent but why not it rain for last three months. I really think it not going to be issue but....

Second, since Myrtle has hundreds of skyscraper resort- hotels your likely to find better deals on Hotwire or Priceline.
