Duke Energy Progress offers a service called HomeWIRE. Does anyone use this service and are you happy? Are there any pros and cons?

Thanks!

Not to cynical, but the fact that they offer it tells me that it isn't a good deal :-) I don't think needing electrical repairs are all that common and many of the covered items can be replaced for less than one month's premium.

Chances are if you need some sort of electrical repair, it's going to be something either 1) not emergent or 2) pre-existing. I can't imagine any scenario where this would pay for itself. Find out a good electrician from people you know and keep their number on hand. That's all you really need. We just had some electrical work done and I would use the guy again. He was reasonable and cleaned up after himself really well. If something happens I will call him and I think he'd come out fairly quick.

If you need a good electrician, call John Johnson 919-422-1202. He owns Right Choice Electric and we have used him on dozens and dozens of jobs for our crawlspace business. He is such an easy guy to deal with, and a highly skilled electrician.

I agree on Homewire being a waste of money.
