I've got some kind of leak in my place in the Hillsborogh neighborhood, water damage seeping up the wall and under the hardwood floors causing them to buckle. Looks like I'm gonna need someone to come fix it. Not even sure where to start (contractor? plumber? flooring guy?). Any advice and recommendations appreciated!

Is the damage on the first floor? Do you have a crawl space?

First floor; no crawl space, it's on a slab. Looks like the outside faucet may have a leak in the wall...only source of water I can find over where the damage originates.

I'd start with a plumber to get the leak fixed ASAP.

You might want to contact Carolina Restoration after the plumber comes. I had a horrible experience with sewer gushing out of my first floor toilet. They came in, ran fans, replaced the floors, etc. Insurance covered most of it, it was a nightmare. Good luck to you!

There are some larger "restoration" operations that handle mostly insurance cases. CRC is one, they are located in Apex. I got a an estimate from them on water damage but my job was too small (and did not involve insurance) so I would have been paying minimums for some trades (dry wall, etc). They will bring in fans and spray any mold, but so will a competent smaller contractor. As far as dealing with CRC for the estimate they were prompt, professional and sent the estimate timely. Good luck, I know it is not fun.

I used ARCO Restoration when a tree crashed through my roof during a heavy rainstorm. They were wonderful.
