Well, I imagine running the DOT is quite a bit more similar to being a general in the Army than running a school system. Way less politics probably (Ha, I can't believe someplace has more politics than the DOT!)
As far as "non-partisan" school board elections. I wish it could somehow be non-partisan. Unfortunately, people are people and people tend to lean one way or the other. Politics in general have gotten so horribly polarized with neither side willing to compromise and its especially bad for school governance. Either way. It seems both sides are more concerned with power than actually providing a good education or good use of tax money. With the focus on such a short term goal, it seems like good thoughtful educational policy is almost impossible.
Do you mean Kushner? There are actually 15 elementary schools in her district.
really? thanks for the clarification. Not sure which 9 I was thinking of. Maybe it was 6 of 9 proposed at some time in the past 12 months. Still, 6 out of 15 is pretty bad, and she's 6 of the 13 capped elementary schools.
Sign of things to come in the next state election or is this isolated to Wake?
