A sad (probably accurate) prediction.

Default 45 minutes, usually

I drive from HS road to the heart of RTP in 50 minutes or less, five days a week.

HS road to Kildare Farm
Kildare farm to Tryon/64, go west to 55
55 north to 54

I am on HS road at 7:10, arrive at work by 8, sometimes a few minutes before.

And it will get better, someday. The NC Turnpike authority was created to build and finance 540, the West Wake Tollway. It makes no sense to have a turnpike authority if you don't intend to give them a tollway to build. Sooner or later, it will get built. My guess is that within 5 to 7 years, it will take 15 minutes to get to RTP on it from HS, and you will pay between 2 and four dollars round trip.

If you go 55 all the way through Apex, it's about an hour. If you go on the side road around Apex, you can cut 10 minutes off.

If you go Highway 1 to 440/40 west, it's an hour or more and you burn too much gasoline.
