I drive a bmw 5 series. And I know how fast I was driving because I have a speedometer in my car. I truly believe the officer clocked another car because there was heavy traffic. I think the cop used a Lidar gun. But the officer also told me he could arrest me but since I was cooperative, he wouldn't.

Heavy traffic should not be going even 65 mph IMHO.

So how fast do you think you were going? I imagine you saw the car that was going 95 fly right by you. A car moving that fast in heavy traffic would be difficult to miss.

Even if you were doing 85, that's 25 over!. About time cops around here get more stringent, too many lead foot/reckless drivers esp on 540 & 440.

Yeah 25 over a ridiculously arbitrary speed limit that serves no purpose but to support enhanced revenue generation. But I digress.

If you were tagged with LIDAR the ticket will likely say so. In either case it's irrelevant, luckily the systems corruption works both ways, so get a lawyer, pay up, and move on.

Yeah, down by the speed it should say. Like R-95 or something, the R being for radar.

Maybe it's not configured correctly. I dunno. Regardless, talk to a lawyer.

Does not compute. If you were clocked with LIDAR the cop was definitely looking at your car. You should be very thankful the officer didn't have you locked up.

Yay for the police! The speeding around here is really getting out of control -- doing 75 in a 65 on I-40 has people tailgating you and weaving in and out of traffic. The average speed in the left lane must be 80+. Yesterday I was driving in a 45 mph zone on a local road going 50 - car speeds up behind -- seriously like a foot from my bumper flashing her lights!! She cuts out from behind me - shoot me a dirty look -- and then ends up right next to me at the next red light. Not an isolated incident - happens allll the time.

So, too bad for getting caught going 95 mph - I'm only sorry that you can hire a lawyer and probably get the charges reduced. Lesson NOT learned.
