Hello,

I'm a CPI security customer and have been for a few years. Every year, twice a year, when the clocks change for DST, my CPI system beeps in the middle of the night and wakes me up. After years, I finally got around to calling CPI this morning. Two folks, one tech support and one customer support, said that the system gets a firmware update or reboots itself to change the date/time and as a result the system beeps when its reinitializing itself. They further said that there was no way to change this behavior. None.

They also claimed, I was the only one calling about such behavior.

So, the question:

Anyone else out there with an older CPI security system have the same behavior?

thanks

I had an older one and the problem is that the older systems had the DST dates hard coded. When the dates were changed the time would be wrong for a few weeks when it first happened I called them and they told me I was also the only one to complain. I eventually bullied them into replacing my motherboard because of it.

I guess now they are reprogramming everyone's system remotely. I would not stand for that either. Certainly no reason they can't do it the night before or morning after. In fact I would demand they stop because when the system reboots it is not active so people could break in at that time.

If you are out of contract you can absolutely make them do it or just leave. You can probably get a new generation system out of it. If not, keep calling, ask for managers and explain how unsafe you feel and that you expect someone that is selling what is essentially a luxury product can do better and that while they may have you locked down, that this will absolutely guarantee you will leave when the time is up. Maybe you have to eventually fall back and agree to pay a hundred bucks for the service call.
