I'm doing the OBX marathon this weekend and curious about the drive down.
Anyone that has done the drive have any suggestions for an interesting stop . . .place to have lunch?

Have any favorite eatery down in that area?

thanks so much.

It is a relatively boring drive, but one of the few towns I would be interested in exploring is Tarboro. It has some cute bungalows and Victorians. Also the 1808 historic Blount-Bridgers House. For food, Addie's Main Street Cafe and the Classic Diner sound interesting.

Stop in at Blackbeard's BBQ and C food just outside of Tarboro. This place is a classic!

My advice, if you are driving 64, when you get pretty close and the road is two lane going through the middle of the woods, be careful and stay close to the speed limit. There is a Highway Patrol trooper that loves to hide out on side roads. I got busted a couple of years ago. I had a meeting that lasted a couple of hours and when I was driving back, he had someone else pulled over. I spoke to the attorney that I used to handle the case and he said he does lots of business from that one guy.

This might have been just past Plymouth IIRC, but evidently they are all around there until you get to Manteo.

The Columbia area is a notorious speed trap!

What a wonderful and warmer weekend down at the OBX and yes, survived the marathon.

Ended up making only one stop and that is at Mackey Ferry Peanuts and it's a MUST! They have the best homemade fudge and you can sample galore!!!!

Funny but I didn't see one single patrol car going down and only one on the way back!

If you haven't been to the OBX...you've got to go!
