Has anyone else did a double take when chancing upon bluish/ purplish headlights on the roads in this area? They seem to mimic lights on police cruisers, albeit a paler version. I wonder why these drivers don't realize it's not cool to confuse fellow motorists.

I've seen them but never for a moment have I thought they resembled police lights.

Not always - they can be in the front grill and panel behind the backseat. The recently mentioned Corvette definitely did not have roof mounted lights.

Some HID headlights have a blue or purple hue to them. They do not blink nor do they flash like police lights. I don't think it's confusing at all.

I saw this on the road recently. Kinda freaked me out.

I wouldn't think that they are legal.

nope. if they aren't flashing I'm not concerned with it. I've had them in a few cars I used to own. To be honest I'm more concerned with a driver that can't distinguish steady headlights from strobing emergency vehicle lights....

it would be unlawful for the vehicle to be operated on the road with any color but white or yellow activated

But these are the "angel eyes" part, not the actual headlight. Does that matter? I know for a while it was popular to have bluish lights under the car, but that seems to have disappeared. Not sure if it is just not in style anymore with that crowd, or it became illegal.
