Poor Mr. Keillor.

He never had my mother's pumpkin pie, or he would eat those words...

If you make your own pie, you always know what went into it. Just saying.

This thread provided some wonderful comic relief after reading the one on the I-540 tolls...that one gave me a headache! I am a blueberry fan myself but nothing beats hot apple pie a la mode!

Enoy your pies and your Thanksgiving everyone and remember no matter what the debate, NC is a wonderful place to call home!

I really should have made my own. I was just lazy. But I have returned the mystery berry pie for a delicious apple pie. Goal: learn to make a good pie crust.

I make my own crust using the butter crust recipe from smitten kitchen's website. I always double the recipe and either refrigerate or freeze the extra for later. I do all the mixing for the dough with my fingers which yields a great crust and cuts down on washing the parts to a food processor or even dealing with a pastry blender. I learned that technique from watching The Chew at the doctor's office. It's so worth making your own crust and really isn't hard at all.
