Tookie's Toys in Cameron Village (Dec. 1) or Falls Village (Dec. 8). Santa has a real beard and is often accompanied by a very authentic Mrs. Claus.

ok i am going to sound really cheap, but walmart does a pic with santa 5x7 free.
i am not saying it is as nice as the mall pics, but it was ok. and when you have a baby that wants to run away from the big red man, it made me feel better to think i didnt have to pay for a picture package of my son sitting with santa and my husband and litterally trying to escape...lol
i only take one a year for his scrap book, then i do nice pics at home for the family....

I should add that at Tookie's Toys, there is no photographer, so you should take your own camera if you want to capture the moment! Another good "cheap" option I guess

Does anyone know if you HAVE to buy a picture when seeing Santa (at Southpoint, specifically)?

My son is dying to sit on Santa's lap, but the picture prices make me nauseous. I would like to think that they let kids simply visit him for free, but DH thinks I'm crazy. Anyone know for sure?

i guess you can say that you dont want a picture when its your turn. i mean you have waited on line, your child should be able to simply sit and talk to santa without you having to buy anything.

My son sat on Santa's lap at Crabtree the other day and there was no picture required. That was on a Friday morning, though, and there was no line whatsoever.

We've done this before, and they seemed fine with it. Just tell the "elf" you don't want pictures before you sit.

You certainly do not have to purchase a picture to sit on Santa's lap! We have done it several times (only if there is no line tho!). I always buy a picture and a frame tho, but I will say we're coming back another time for a picture or that I already bought one. My dd would want to see him every time we go to the mall if she could.

I don't think the line will be too bad at Tookies. We've gone the past couple of years and waited only a few minutes.
