I would rather see competition than consolidation. And the STD's, i.e, FCC, FTC, and SEC may too.
And attempting to swallow TWC just may sink Charter. They are hardly large enough. And they aren't offering enough of a premium to TWC shareholders. I don't see TWC going anywhere near $135.
TWC is a goner. Only questions are when and by whom. USDOJ has already expressed concern about further consolidation. TWC might be split up as a result.

I'd just like to have a tenth of their ad budget to buy a nice Caribbean island....
It seems it would be as cost effective to put those funds into bringing us faster internet service.

Ad expenses are easy to criticize, but the flip side is that advertising works. TWC has existing customers to upsell, to dissuade from going OTT, and to defend from AT&T. TWC wants to poach people dissatisfied with U-Verse. About 25,000 people move into Wake County every year, and most of them live in the TWC service area and will want to buy Internet. Absent advertising, TWC would cede most of them to U-Verse. This is how the business game is played.

Oh, I understand. No criticism was intended.
I have received probably 10 solicitations in the mail in the last two weeks, and it still amazes me.
And, I really don't have any hankering for a nice Caribbean island, anyway.
