I'm going to let my Sunday only subscription lapse at the end of the month. It's just not worth it for the few minutes I spend reading the paper (and I don't buy any food where coupons would apply).

I would be wary about letting the subscription "lapse." Unless you call and cancel, they will send you newspapers and bill you for them even when the subscription expires, and threaten to send you to collections until you pay up. That's what happened to me anyway. Just a thought.
since the N&O is subsidized by the DNC (if not they should be) I'm sure as election time rolls around they will be deals to be had. The N&O is just a platform to report biased 'news' for an agenda ....... Thank God most people (including me) subscribe just to get coupons and take the rest with a grain of salt. I pay $100.20 per year (7day) .... i canceled my subscription and signed up on-line after 30 days with a 3rd party (probably DNC)
I have been paying over $50 per quarter or over $200 per year for N&O. Senior rate. Based on this discussion thread I called N&O and tried to negotiate a better deal. They advised I had the best rate available. As of tomorrow I will no longer get home delivery of N&O. Certainly not worth the rate of over $200.00 per year. I wonder how long I have to wait to be eligible for these new subscriber discounted rates?
Just have your wife subscribe via the link above .. and done.
I let my sub lapse a few weeks ago, and now I'm getting four or five calls a week from 'em. Sounds like a big call center in the background. Instead of just hanging up when I don't answer, the caller says something like "Hello? How are you doing today. Hello?" and then finally hangs up. It's getting a bit old.

The same thing happened to us when we dropped it years ago. It was not a pretty sight.
