I've been very happy with AT&T coverage. I don't do speed tests but it seems fast to me and seems like it is almost always saying LTE. I live in East Raleigh, drop my first son off at school in downtown Raleigh, my second son at preschool in Morrisville, and work in RTP. No problems at all in any of those locations.

I have the mobile share plan which gives me unlimited talk and unlimited text on 3 phones, and 10GB of data that I share between the three phones and an iPad. It is around $210/month total for the 4 devices.
There have been some places in the mountains where I had no coverage at all. But I have also been places where I had coverage and others didn't. Rural areas are spotty for all I think.

Really.
And GOOG free apps use a lot of data tracking me. #@ )*&&^%$*!!

I'm headed for a 2GB plan to start out...

CTIA has good info on the data usage for various apps.

If you have access to wi-fi most of the time, the new phone from locally owned Republic Wireless (bandwidth.com) is getting good reviews - https://republicwireless.com/

Clark Howard !loves! Republic Wireless.

I'm diving full bore into Windows, however...

Republic Wireless looks really cool.. and it'd solve my problem of having poor cell coverage at my house (because it'd use my wifi automatically). I'll definitely look into it more when my current contract is up!

My neighbors and I were just chatting a few minutes ago.
They just went with Republic Wireless and are very happy so far. But, they definitely have minimum requirements.

So, I was over at Crossroads last night, in front of Office Depot, and did a Network Speed Test.

AT&T delivered 43+ down and 13.87 upload speeds.

I can live with that.

Does this mean you gave Sprint the ol' boot?

It's fast but don't count on that all the time. ;-)

I'm pretty comfortable with "not all the time." I trained for 5 years at Sprint!
