I would go out and drive it.
Google is often all over the place on commute distances, but it IS on the wrong side of the lake for a commute north.

I assume that 25 min commute would be to downtown Raleigh/NC State area? That seems like a very low estimate for an RTP commute from that area!

You're right that house is a beauty. Been on the market a while too.

We have driven it on weekends to go to Lake Benson and White Deer Park and don't feel like it's that bad but weekdays are a different animal altogether, even without a major incident. It's amazing to me that being just as far south, but just a little bit west of there shaves quite a bit off of commuting time.

I've been paying attention to traffic reports for a year so that's why we originally said we'd only look at west of 401 to avoid that whole mess over there. If we find this house in a better location, we will RUN over there

Good guess, I work at State and my husband works just a mile from there.

I did a 30 min morning and 45 minute afternoon commute for years in NY, and I want to avoid that. I know it's not much to some, but our quality of life is so important to us, and that means a shorter commute.

Understandable. You should be able to get a house similar to that around the West Lake/ Lake Wheeler areas too with a much easier commute!

Good luck!

You would think so

I'm afraid one or two of our must-haves are limiting our options, but we're remaining positive.

Plus, our realtor is a saint with copious amounts of patience so we don't feel pressured to decide!

We drove down to North Myrtle Beach this morning despite the emergency. The stopped up drainage ditches seem to be more of a problem

Good! That's how an agent should be!

Seen on a train board, this would be great IF it happened...

"My CSX source said the word on the street is that CSX will be painting a unit
for military appreciation and another for first responders appreciation"

More like a random hope for than a random thought...
