I just visited friends in downtown Raleigh NC, Raleigh had a booming downtown beloved by hipsters and techies and tons of people moving downtown before this year. After a few [insert recent events here] and Covid restrictions, downtown Raleigh is a ghost town, a shell of what it once was just last year. So many places closing or moving, restaurants that were in Raleigh forever like oakwood cafe, k and w,, etcgoing out of business.
We talked to a bartender about the growing racial tension downtown. He, like so many in Raleigh, was from somewhere else. Rochester new York. My friends want to move. You see few visitors , little sidewalk traffic, and still some businesses boarded up.
The [insert Government Figure and Party Affiliation] of Raleigh let the [insert aforementioned events here] go on for days before [insert mandate here].
According to someone in Politics and Other Controversies, Downtown Raleigh is now a ghost town. This is news to me; aren’t there still a couple of new buildings on the way? Didn’t they just open a new Publix not even three months ago? I’m confused.

It was a ghost town about 50 years ago too.
