I have used Eddie quite a few times for various commercial projects over the last 15 years or so (his son Kevin was little then) and he is great to deal with. He will come out to your house with a full shop in a van and do it in about an hour. He can cut keys and everything. - Raleigh Locksmith Service
I honestly don't know what he charges for residential, as I am usually having 30 locks done or something, but it is quite reasonable, almost surprising, IMO.
Minor necropost bump, but I just had a house re-keyed by Apex Lock and Key due to the recommendations from this thread. Service was very quick (tech was in our driveway approximately 30 minutes after my wife called), courteous, and he did excellent work. We got 10% "Google" discount (see the Coupons section of their site) off the listed price for the service charge and the charge per lock was very reasonable. As mentioned previously, they provide 5 keys with the base cost and can cut additional ones if needed.
No relationship other than as a very satisfied customer, etc.
When you get your doors re-keyed, weather you DIY or have it done, it's a good time to replace the original screws for the strike-plate with ones at least 3" long.
They cost almost nothing, and greatly increase the security (resistance to being kicked in!), of the door system.

I concur. We used them when we moved in last summer. I can't remember the cost, but I remember thinking it was incredibly reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

At least two in each hinge (one on the door and one in the jamb) is good also.
Good advice from Ed_RDNC and Sherrifftruman. Guys, I tried to "rep" you both but C-D blocks the attempt. The old familiar "spread it around" message. That limitation is annoying. A good post is a good post, and anyone should be free to "rep" it.
Be sure the locks themselves are in good shape before investing in them.
