So while I am still considering purchasing a home later this year, I'm also debating on possible apartments.

I've been looking at the following properties:

*Colonial Townhouse Apartments
2920 Chapel Hill Road
Durham, NC 27707

*Atrium
3800 Meriwether Drive
Durham, NC 27704

*Bradford Ridge
710-720 S LaSalle Street
Durham, NC 27705

*The Evergreens
5512 Sunlight Drive
Durham, NC 27707

Anyone have some current feedback on these properties? I'm finding a bit of information online, but a lot seems to be from 2012 or older and I just want to be sure I'm getting as much current feedback as possible.

I would also welcome any other recommendations that anyone may have, keeping in mind that my priorities are 1/1, safe, second floor, washer/dryer in unit with a rental budget of around $600-$800/month.

Thank you!

Really? No advice on these places or any other apartments in Durham? Should I be looking outside of Durham for an apartment?

Have you tried apartment ratings for reviews

I'm only familiar with Evergreens. A colleague and his wife became empty nesters, sold their large home, and now rent there. As far as I know they are happy with it. They plan to stay for a few years, until they retire and move to the beach. They like the close proximity to Duke and I'm sure it must be nice/quiet or they wouldn't have selected it. They've lived in Durham a long time, so had plenty of time to make a choice about an apt complex.

Thank you for your suggestions. I have been all over apartment ratings. That's how I narrowed down to those three that I listed. But I figured I'd try to get other reviews of the places. They all seemed to look okay and the sales office seems to be all too eager to sign me up.

Was hoping there would be other suggestions at least. Oh well, guess I'll keep looking on my own.

I checked in with them a bit further and while the complex seems terrific, the rent is a bit high for me. Well over $900/month! So it's going to get crossed off my short list. Thanks for the tips though.

I would like to stay in the area of Durham near Duke at the very least, but it seems that pickings are slim around here if you want safe, 1/1 with washer and dryer in unit. Considering expanding my search to the Brier Creek area at this point.

When I was planning my move to FL it was a tedious search for an apartment. Once I came for a visit and drive by some of the places on my list, that list quickly got narrowed down to a few places.

and there are pros and cons to checking reviews online, some of them just don't seem real and/or only the complainers are posting, so you could pass up a perfectly good place based on those reviews.

How about posting something at the local hospitals looking for a roommate?

Coming from a Florida native....I completely understand what you mean about the apartments there. Very hit or miss sometimes. LOL

I've been just doing drive bys, but I typically go during the day so I'm not sure if it's as indicative of safety as I would like. So that's something I'll need to venture into further by going in the evenings, etc.

I am not looking for a room mate, thank you for the thought though.

Pinnacle Ridge is great - near Duke, has washer and dryers in the units. I don't know about the other apartments you mentioned.

Yes a drive by late Friday or Saturday night, also call the PD and inquire about noise complaints/theft etc

I hear ya on the roommate, not my cup of tea either, sure would help with the cost though.

Check out places managed by Riverstone and Camden, they have a few really nice complexes in the Orlando area, not sure that's indicative of up there.
Another suggestion, change the subject line to include the names of the apt complexes, you might get more responses.
