Were you pulled over on 540 in December (driving a black Mazda hatchback) when you were doing nothing wrong?

Was the ticket recent? If so you will soon get lots of letters from law firms in the mail.

if you're really innocent of a traffic violation, and ESPECIALLY if you've never received a citation before, compounded by the potential communication difficulty - then you absolutely want to pay any decent attorney their $300-400 to get the issue resolved for you.

Even if you're NOT innocent, unless you'd like to get raked over the coals with your insurance rates, get a lawyer. The whole system is set up such that only suckers pay the fines. The initial outlay of court cost+lawyer will work out to about the same as the fine. The difference is that the guilt admission means ongoing insurance rate hikes. Really just depends on whether you want a one time cost, or ongoing cost plus a clear conscience that you took the moral high road on a traffic ticket.
