Sure. Don't want to go over 375k. Not wanting old ( everything is old in NYC). I'd consider resale but newer like less than 5 yrs. I have 3 kids needing rooms. :-).

You are trying to cover a LOT of ground.
In Cary, you might look at Wellsley, Where the most recent three listings went under contract in 2,3, and 34 days.
Nice and desirable neighborhood. Solid fit for you budget.
Preston, where various neighborhoods have homes to fit your budget.
Brookstone, where homes sell very fast, nothing available right now, but worth watching, IMO.
Carpenter Village

RE your earlier mention of The Park At West Lake. That is in Cary. It is only an Apex address because the USPS delivers mail from the Apex station. Cary is the municipality with jurisidiction.

And, Apex is worth consideration. Haddon Hall, Abbington, Beckett Crossing, Pearson Farm, Scotts Mill, Dogwood Ridge, Beazer will build you something new in your price range in Covington.

Whoops.... I started this and then got distracted, and posted after the <5 years old parameter hit the forum. Whoops on me...

All good suggestions by Mike but they are all older than 5 years old. Personally I think you are really limiting yourself by not looking at the older housing stock (still less than 20 years old) - it's very nice to live an established neighborhood with established schools (read: little chance of redistricting) and established routines and traditions. I live in one of the 'hoods Mike mentioned (as does my sister - in another one), but that's what I was looking for when we moved. We looked at many of the places Mike mentions.

I think you are going to drive yourself a bit crazy if you keep casting the net wide. I can tell you are afraid of making a dreadful mistake - and I also think you are going to be happy wherever you land, because you want this move for all the right reasons.

At least open yourself up to houses built in the last 10-15 years. Our current house is older than what you're looking for (It was built in 2006) and our neighborhood still looks quite new.

Okay. I'll take the advice here and consider older homes like 10 yrs too. I'm not a snob, lol. Just always have had old!

You might consider Covington. Spanking new neighborhood that will build out in no time.
Just doesn't have that lofty "Cary" address.

Some of the 10-15 yo houses around here will seem SHINY compared to the older homes I've seen in the NYC metro area. Especially if you could nail down one that had lots of updates done.

Another neighborhood that I think you'd love would be Weatherstone here in Cary. If you could find the right home. It backs right up to St. Michael's.
