We recently moved back to Clayton and I noticed a few changes...

1- We now have a Harris Teeter!
2- What happened to Downtown Clayton? Seems like a lot of stores closed down
3- We have a dog park! I know it's winter now, but does the dog park ever get busy? Even with the somewhat warmer weather we've been having recently, I still don't see many pet owners there with their dogs.
4- If anyone lives in Flowers, is there still a lady's fitness group that meets a couple times a week in the parking lot to work out? I'd be interested in that.
5- It's good to be back but I still need to get used to having a Target 25 minutes from me .

Two Targets 25 minutes away, lol. Okay, one is probably 30 minutes. I never understood why they built them so close together.
Did you find the downtown area to have vacant storefronts, or just turned into something different?

I did find that the downtown area had more vacant storefronts from what I remember a couple years ago. A bakery is gone, a jewelry store, an artist shop closed and also couple restaurants. It'd be nice to have locals shop locally more! I know a few things Clayton is not lacking however, and that is Mexican restaurants, tanning salons and hair salons! It'll be interesting to see what goes up in place of those vacancies. Maybe the chamber needs to get more involved and push the shopping in Clayton thing more...love to see a small town thrive!

I went by there at about 1:00 PM yesterday (Sunday) and it was packed. People standing around talking and dogs looking up at their owners. LOL

We own a home here and my husband's job. Also, my high schooler was beyond happy to move back and be with his buddies again and that was a plus for me as a mother to move back here, since he never adjusted well to his new high school.
