I heard they skipped out on the rent in the middle of the night. Purely unsubstantiated rumor though. I also heard numerous stories about how poorly they treated some customers. They were always nice to me though.
I thought they were good, just opened a new restaurant next door .. Poof, Gone!
Anyone have any more information?
I've heard all sorts of rumours, but that is just what they are....rumours. I will say that while I loved their quality, I quit going in there over a year ago. The owner was just rude, seemed to always be rushing people to make up their minds and being impatient. I got tired of being treated like a problem when I was looking at the cases.
Interesting ... I went once to buy some Italian sausage and was pretty put off by the customer "service". My sister, on the other hand, loved the place.
They did have quality products. I remember the owner making a big deal about how he didn't use any NC raised pork .... maybe the NC Pork Council got'em ...

Yeah, he made a big deal about that....he basically didn't like being in NC it seemed. Must of been our lack of pizza. **smirk**
Sad they didn't make it, they did have good quality products. Opening a restaurant priced and sized as it was likely had a huge role in whatever went down. I too, like a poster above, stopped going in because of how I was made to feel for trying to spend my hard earned money in their establishment. Come in too early, they were upset, yet they were open. Come in too late, they were upset, yet still open for business. Order too much, they were upset that you didn't call it in so they didn't have to deal with it on demand. And on it goes with the temperamental behaviors.
Personally, I didn't need that in my life. "They are from NY" was a common response to my objections. Really? That excuses rudeness? I'm from the same area, I should get it then? Screw that, there are plenty of places to get quality meats.
I wish them success if they have another go, and hopefully they will have learned from their experience.
I thought of you when I opened up this thread, Jk.
aw, shucks. Thanks.
Truthfully, the best HOT Italian sausage I've found so far is at Kroger - not the stuff in the open meat case, but the single ones in the butcher case for a dollar a piece. All varieties are surprisingly lean. I don't think much of the sweet Italian, though.
But I'm still looking for better.
