Hello,

I have a box full of papers that I would like to shred. I have enough that doing it by myself, one by one, would be quite time consuming. Does anyone know of a place in/around Chapel Hill where I can go shred these documents? I know that there are "shred" event days sometimes, but I don't know of one coming up very soon. So I am looking for something else.

Thanks a lot.

Does your workplace have a recycling day? Some companies encourage employees to bring in recyclables for such events within certain guidelines.

I am self-employed, and I haven't established such a day for myself yet

Buy a heavy duty shredder that can take 10 pages at a time. Problem solved.

Call Iron Mountain. They are the largest document shred/storage company in the world with locations all throughout the triangle.

I just went through the same issue. Looking for a shredder is harder then one might expect. The big companies I called wanted to send a salesman out or schedule weekly sevice and Cintas, I think was in Garner and any company will be pretty expensive for them to come pick up a single box. I used Phoenix Resources Recycling 6021 Triangle Dr Raleigh, NC 27617 (919) 787-0883. Right off HWY 70 by Umsted Park. It was approx $15 or $20 for six boxes to shred. I asked and he shredded it while I watched. They are only open a couple days a week, call first.

For those of you in the Triangle area looking to shred personal documents, please take a look at this link:

Shred It -

A free shredding event is scheduled for March 15 from 10am to 2pm at three different locations. Two of the locations are sponsored by GCF, and GCF will also have trucks on hand to accept clothing and accessories for donation (NO furniture or large objects).

This is a good opportunity for those of you looking for a place to shred large quantities of personal documents.
