Hi all,

I am a sophomore at UNC-CH and my roommate and I are trying to find a place that we can rent/lease, but it's so overwhelming.

We're looking for a place to move into next fall (August 2008), and we need 2 bedrooms, at least one bathroom, washer/dryer in unit, dishwasher, stove and range, refrigerator, internet access available, cable available, HVAC, and close to campus. We'd like to be able to walk to campus (so north campus area would be preferable, but not a must), but a bus stop can do in a pinch.

The kicker is that it has to be less than $550 per person, including utilities, to be cheaper than dorm living.

Any and all advice/suggestions/help/ideas/offers that I can get are greatly appreciated!

Check out the Village Green townhouses on Elizabeth St (just off Franklin). There is no rental agency because all units are individually owned. But usually, if there are units for rent, you'll see a notice on the bulletin board by the mailboxes. You could also post a flyer with your interest in renting one.

These units are 2 bed, 2.5 baths, with an enclosed front patio and private back patio. When we rented there (fall 2005--spring 2007), our rent was $780. I would imagine most if not all units have washer/dryer. It's a little more than a mile up the hill to campus; most people take the bus, but walking isn't out of the question (esp. walking home...downhill...)

There is a pool and tennis courts on the property, and the units back up to the Bolin Creek Greenway.

These places were built in the early 70s I think; they're not glamorous, but we found them comfortable and quiet...

Good luck!
