About everyone is doing the metal roofs these days. Baker Roofing as well as Hamlin Roofing are two that come to mind, both having been in business many years. I did many metal roofs in the 22 years I did roofing. Standing seam copper is the best I think but the most expensive. Try and get a commercial grade product with concealed fasteners if possible. The stuff you see on houses in all the colors has exposed screws and every screw is a possible leak over time. Good luck!
I am so glad to see this post. I just signed a contract with them to do my roof (shingles). Not cheap, but I was impressed with the quoting process, and while not the cheapest (actually the highest), I felt it was going to be money well spent.
Reps for making feel like I made the right choice.
The observation tower at Crabtree County Park has a copper standing seam shingle roof. It is gorgeous. Anything else is a compromise.
We are putting on a roof, and compromising....
Copper has become so expensive that mere mortals cannot afford it. You will find metal roofs on some $1M+ new homes but they are not copper.
If a roofing company estimator (i.e. salesman) visits your house to figure a bid, ask him how much for copper. He will laugh!

With copper prices being high enough that home improvement stores have issues with people stuffing their pockets with fasteners, and pipes being ripped out of abandoned homes, and businesses in more remote areas having to put barbed wire around their AC units, I'm not surprised.

Think copper is bad try a slate roof, it will put the price of copper to shame...
