Are you talking about true auction house type estate sales, or just estate sales held in people's homes? Both are available here. If you watch the N&O's classified ads under "antiques/estate sales" you can see ones listed. Some are regular sales (one in Wake Forest..Hoy, I think, one in Wilson, which is usually higher end antigues, and one in Raleigh on Craftsmen Drive) and then there are some services that conduct in-house sales for people. Some of these are listed under antigues/estate and some under Yard Sales, which is the section right after estates in the N&O classifieds. The yard sale listings are harder to dig through, but the true in-house estate sales usually have longer listings or have a company name. Once yuo go to some, you can just get on their email list and save yourself time. For instance, I got this email today:
Beware the regular yard sale that calls itself and estate sale. Sometimes these are great...just a family downsizing a relative or the like...but sometimes, it is just a ploy, I think.
The two estate auction houses I"m aware of are Hoy Auction in Wake Forest. Hoy Auction Co . I've been to their auctions and they have great stuff and the auctioneers are fun and entertaining.
