Carolina Beach seems deserted!? Jeez, it's way too crowded for me. Went about 10 years ago for the first time in a long time and won't be going back anytime soon.

It's deserted now. But won't be in 2 months!

Britt's opened today - it will at least be crowded there!

Oh Britt's, my love.

My favorite time to go to Wrightsville is 6 p.m. or 8 a.m. That worked well when I lived in Wilmington (nothing like having a stressful workday and then going to sit on the beach at 6 p.m.). I'm not a fan of the Wrightsville crowded student scene on weekend days, or the futile attempt to get expensive parking.

Oh....Britt's. Too bad they are off my menu for now. My kids were introduced to Britts two summers ago! Now, C.B. is their favorite beach!

July 15th through august 31... NC beaches ?? Nasty.. 80+ degree water temps 90 degrees on the beach humidity and dew points really high. Ya sit and sweat. even with a breeze off the warm ocean. I avoid that time of the year. Beaches north of the Cape fear River are cleaner.

I don't necessarily mean the amount of people on the beach. I am referring about things to do, and there isn't very much in Carolina Beach. We decided on Beaufort and will explore Atlantic Beach/Emerald Isle.

Things to do-wise, I think Carolina has a whole lot more than Emerald Isle. I like Emerald Isle better, but I like a quiet beach.

Outer banks. No one is ever there when I go.

Does anyone go to NC beaches at Thanksgiving or too cold by then?

People go all year round, but June-August is the high season. Water is still warm and air temps are nice into Sept and October. June-Nov is hurricane season, so you should always be on the lookout. By Nov, water is usually too cold for swimming and air temp can be cold too, but I'm sure people do go to the beach then. Just take a jacket and be prepared for cold and/or windy weather.
