I've been a subscriber to Car and Driver magazine for probably the last 30 years. The mailman must have liked the April 2014 issue, because I never received it. I tried to get a copy of it from the publisher, but all they want to do is extend my subscription by a month to compensate for the missed issue. I also checked for a way to order back issues, but the April 2014 issue is not listed. I went to 3 local stores that stock magazines, and all had replaced their stock with the May 2014 issue already.
Besides ripping off a local dentist's waiting room stash, does anyone know of any stores that tend to keep around the previous month's magazine issues? I'm located in southern Wake county.
There's actually someone who frequently sets up at the flea market at the state fair grounds, who sells back issues of magazines. Many are from the last few months. They are $1 each. I'd try there this weekend.
*They are obviously newstand leftovers...and they tend to have a wide selection when they are there.
Thanks everyone. I'll try the flea market this weekend, and if I cannot find it there, I'll take Mr Martin up on his offer.
Another source to consider -- your public library. The Eva H. Perry Regional Library in Apex has a magazine exchange. I suppose other public libraries have the same. Library patrons are invited to leave their magazines and/or take any they find there. No charge, no library card needed. Walk in, walk out.

Damn. I didn't think of that. I was just at the Holly Springs library this afternoon.
