Our 15 year old son would like to work this summer. A lot of places won't hire someone less than 16. Our other son loves his job at the grocery store he works at, but they don't hire less than 16 year olds. He is good with most any type of work, outdoor work included. Anyone know of someone hiring? Or any local businesses or farms to try? We live in Southwest Wake County: Cary/Apex/Holly Springs area. Thanks!

I mowed lawns and delivered papers from the ages about about 12-16. I'm sure there are people that still need lawns cut .

He could purchase a push mower and mow lawns around the neighborhood. Do kids still do that?

I don't know if there are many clubs around that support a good caddy program, but I did that from the age of 14 through college, and made great money, got good tan, and learned to gamble and curse.

Kids can be lifeguards at 15 if he has the time to go get certified now before summer gets here.

I think we'll pass

Wheelsup and TheKlunk-Yes, he has done this, but seems our neighborhood are mostly happy doing their own. He is trying this again to see if anything has changed. Yes, some kids do still mow yards-and they should!

not really a glib question, but does he actually want to do some work for the money? i.e. sweat?

I guess it depends his skill sets and/or his future career goal.

I know at least one father who wants his son to intern at Cisco/SAS/Google, etc. when he's legal to work such type of jobs.
