I am trying to plant a few trees / shrubs in my new yard and am having trouble finding a good tree nursery in the Raleigh area. I would prefer not getting my plants from Lowes or home Depot and would rather give my business to a privately owned nursery. Anybody have any recommendations on places to check out. I am in North Raleigh, but I hear there are some good places in Garner but I don't know their names. I am also going to look into the Logan Trading Company nursery near downtown. Also, if anybody has recommendations on nice trees to plant that work in limited space Iam all ears. Thanks for the help.

Lets keep Raleigh Green!

I was told but don't know the name either that there is an excellent place off of HWY 751 in between Apex and Durham. We have not been yet may head that way this weekend. we are trying to buy some River Birch that are a large size. Most places seem to have small starter trees and nothing else. I will watch this post as well to see what recommendations you get!

I think you'll find good stuff at Logan's. They're a great place to find yard stuff. I go there often.

We have found some great shrubs and trees at Post Nursery off 401 not far from Wake Forest. Their selections are more mature (larger sizes) and prices are better than the chain stores (not to mention consistent high quality).

I also love going to Homewood Nursery in North Raleigh on Honeycutt Road. I know they have a decent selection of trees, but we've only bought some shurbs (azaleas) and annuals there.

Cool! I haven't heard of these places before. I will check them out once I get my rain barrel hooked up. City of Raleigh was all out of the cheaper rain barrels when I stopped by today. Hopefully they will have more in next week.

I met one of the owners of Norwood Road Garden (in North Raleigh) recently. I don't know anything else about them, but the place is definitely locally owned.
