In the middle of the night on Monday I got hit with a very bad sore throat and then sneezing relentlessly. Nose was like a faucet. Called in Sick. All day sneezing so much my chest hurt. Tuesday night was the night from hell...no sleep due to sneezing, nose itching and constant drip. For some reaons I thought it may be my allergies so I went to work the next day...regardless of the fact I had ZERO sleep. Bad day at work. LEft at Lunch..running a fever of 100.5. All I wanted at this point was sleep. The sneezing slowly changed to coughing and chest congestion thing. weezing. I dosed up on Zertec, Advil and Mucinex and Nyquil...to knock me out in hopes of sleeping. Didn't really work. It was better but felt like I was breathing through a coffee straw all night. But I did get some sleep....Called in Sick. chest congestion bad today,,and now it is Thursday night fever still at 100.5. Hoping I am over the worst of this now and will finally get some real SLEEEEP tonight. Anybody else have this evil cold?

I've got it, although I admit I have no idea what you mean by 'late season'. In my world colds can hit year round.

I don't have a fever but I seem to be rolling through a similar progression to the one you describe. Thought it was allergies, then I was congested, now draining/coughing.

Thank heavens I had sick leave saved up.

Been there, done that, paid those dues. It feels as if anthrax and pneumonia are fighting for supremacy and have chosen your lungs as the battleground. The cough will linger for many days even after all other symptoms have abated.

Same thing here, without the fever. I started getting allergy symptoms Monday. Tuesday night was the worst. I had to blow my nose almost every 5 mins. I started taking Sudafed Wednesday morning. WednesdAy night at work was much better...only had to blow my nose a few times throughout my shift.

I seem to have some sort of sinus thing. I thought it was a stomach bug or food poisoning but now wondering if it is all sinus related. Got really dizzy yesterday early afternoon then 2 hours later got really sick with fever, headache and vomiting for hours. This morning I am weak, sinus headache and really unwell feeling. Whew this is not fun!

One of my college-age kids had the flu earlier this week.

It's so hard to tell the difference between allergies and colds this time of year. My youngest is beset with cold-like symptoms, but because it happens every year at roughly the same time we chalk it up to allergies. And so he gets a Zyrtec nightly until the nasal congestion dissipates. Plus, my allergies are in full bloom right now with my going on sneezing jags (like ten in a row) to the point it hurts.

As an aside, running low-grade fevers while battling allergies is not uncommon. You may truly be experiencing a brutal bout of seasonal allergies.

I remember the exact day and time that I got this cold. It was April 15th at 6PM. I remember getting those first feelings in my nose that told me that I was getting a cold. Given it was peak allergy season, it didn't help to be doubly hit. While the worst of it worked through my system for about 10 days, I am still struggling with my sinuses and congestion a bit. UGH!!!!!

Not pine pollen at this point. You would have noticed by now. My bet is tree pollen--not a cold. Especially if you're new to the area. I am not a doctor, but I play one on the internet. .
