The boom, boom, booming is driving me nuts! I noticed it last night and it has continued this morning. We live near Davis, Highway 55, and Morrisville-Carpenter Road. Any ideas as to what this is?

I wonder if it could be this. We're hearing it in Holly Springs.

Marine artillery training to shake things up at Fort Bragg April 28 to May 17

The Marines have landed. The 10th Marine Regiment is here for their twice annual Rolling Thunder training. The bulk of their live-fire training will take place April 30 through May 13, as they fire significant amounts of 155mm ammunition. The Marines will comply with requirements that prohibit fires larger than battalion size between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. and from firing from 10 a.m. to noon on Sundays.

To top it off, we lost power for 30 seconds and some of the booms rattle the windows. Maybe I've watched too much Revolution and Red Dawn type shows.

But Fort Bragg is 75 miles away. If it's that, how could anyone live near there? I can't stand two more weeks of this!

I'm just a wee bit closer to Ft. Bragg than you are (like a couple miles closer, LOL) and haven't heard or felt a thing. It must be something farther north than I am. Are they doing construction at Morrisville Parkway and NC55? They've been clearing land there for a while.

Hmmm....Twingles....it does sound like it's coming from that direction, roughly. But would they make noise at 9 or 10 at night?

You might hear the quarry on Durant blasting ,but not likely at those hours. I lived on Millbrook near Glenwood for a short while, and used to hear blasting at one of the nearby quarries. I worked nights, so I heard it during the day.
