Well,, my oldest that lives in FL has decided to take the plunge and move closer to Mom!!!
She has me checking out apartments for her in Raleigh. Since I'm in Clayton and have only been here 1 year and 10.5 months, I don't know raleigh at all. Her and her DH are looking for a 6-12 month lease until the decide where they want to be and buy a home. They are fine with 12 months, but the place I looked at the other day made me cringe. She's looking online and emailing me places.
They are looking for a 2 BR under 800 for now. That's what they are paying, so they want to stay in that range. Does anyone know of nice apartment complexes? They will be a mixed-race couple, so they prefer not to be in an area of all one race. between them they are black/white/Puerto Rican so they would like a diverse area without a lot of crime. I know bad things happen everywhere-we are from MIlwaukee originally, but I just dont want to go to places that are in less desirable neighborhoods with run-down apartments. the last place had holes in the linoleum and cabinet doors falling off!
ANy suggestions would be appreciated.
They are working on finding jobs. HE's almost done with school so will be taking anything temporary until he graduates, so they dont care about commuting once he gets a job. (yes, i know he needs a job first. he already has multiple interviews lined up, so I think it's only a matter of time.) She just knows from visiting several times she doesnt want to live in Clayton!
thanks in advance!

2BR for under 800 is tough in a decent neighborhood.

Agreed, but if you're willing to sacrifice convenient location you can do it, you just have to live a little further out.

According to Numbeo, the average rent for a 1 bedroom apartment around the city center costs $997 and outside of that, $684. A 3 bedroom apartment around the city center costs $1725 and outside that, $1111. It doesn't give the price of a 2 bedroom oddly enough, but I'd assume that it is somewhere between those 2 sets of ranges.

I would suggest looking at the numerous apartment complexes that boarder Lake Lynn in North Raleigh. Nice area (easy access to I-540) and 2 bedrooms ranging from $750 - $1,000. They should be able to find something for around $800 there.

thanks everyone! I'll forward all of these to her, let her check them out, then she'll set up the appointments and send me looking for her.
Big Thanks!
