I don't have a fence and have had zero luck with repellents. So far they have wiped out my roses, tiger lilly's, purple hearts, hydrangea, and sunflowers. I notice the deer do not touch my peony plant or my daisy flowers. I'm looking for flowering plants (annuals or perennials) that deer wouln't eat at all, and by that I mean they woulnt event nibble on (sometimes the eat just enough to kill the plant or remove the bloom).

I'm interested in flowers vs. bushes. Thanks!

I love deer, but am tired of feeding them.

We have a ton of deer in our neighborhood and I have enjoyed seeing the irises this year. I don't have any myself, but seeing how they seem to have survived the deer I'm thinking about getting some. I think deer love daylilies.

The deer devoured our tulip bed.

We planted a ton of salvia in back and added some dandelions and petunias for color because if they eat those, I don't mind because they're cheap.

So far, the deer are ignoring it. Maybe the salvia drives them away. It is very pretty.

Deer definitely love day lilies.. they eat mine every year!

They don't touch my knock out roses though. Oh, and they don't bother with my cone flowers.

Deer country here as well. So far cone flowers, marigolds, irises and daffodils have been left alone. We've had luck using the "I must garden" deer repellent from Logan's, which we use on our Julia Child's rose. We use it about once a month and they leave the rose bush alone. If we ever miss a month, half the rose plant is gone.

I've heard that deer don't like strongly scented flowers -- something about while they are feeding and have their noses down in the plant, the scent inhibits their ability to smell potential predators -- but I don't know how much truth there is to that. But we have tons of deer in our neighborhood, and they have never touched my peonies, lavender, cat mint, joe pye weed, or datura (all pretty strongly scented). They also tend to stay away from my bee balm, white milkweed, cardinal flower, coreopsis, columbine, and coneflowers, although they will nibble on those when they are young.

I've had varying degrees of success with hydrangeas, asters (some they love, some not so much), and phlox.

I gave up on my bed of day lillies and planted cactus. The deer sure don't bother those.

Deer don't bother our knock out roses either. Almanac Gardener mentioned a spray called "Bobbex", I think, that would repel the deer. I would like more flowering shrubs also.

They never touched my butterfly bushes or hollies. crepe myrtles are good if you can get them grown high enough that they can't reach the leaves/blossoms - not much interest in the trunk...otherwise, everything else is deer food - it all just depends on how hungry they get.

what gets me, is they wait until the bloom is JUST about to burst, then come in and mow them down.

hydrangeas, lilies, hostas - these are on the dessert bar.
